WELCOME TO MADRID!

On a three-day trip to Madrid my friends and I explored several great Museums and beautiful sights of Spain's capital.

View onto Plaza de Santa Ana.

Madrid is the place to be when it comes to Art and Fashion. The Art Museum Thyssen-Bornemisza combines both in their exhibition VOGUE Like a Painting.

Photographers such as Peter Lindbergh, Tim Walker and Michael Thompson explore the relationship between fashion photography and painting. With traditional attributes one finds in paintings the photographs seen in this exhibition are variations of  portraits, landscape or still life

Michael Thompson: Carmen as Zurbaran's Saint Elizabeth, 2000

Nick Knight for Jill Sander, 1993

Peter Lindbergh: One Enchanted Evening, Taormina, Sicily, 2012

Rosario Buzón Acevedo: Sandra Nietzel, who absolutely loved this exhibition, 2015

The Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection is a world-renowned collection of Modern Art. It consists of works by artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, László Moholy-Nagy,Piet Mondrian and
René Magritte, to name a few.

Roy Lichtenstein: Woman in Bath, 1963

 László Moholy-Nagy: Circle Segments, 1921

Piet Mondrian: Composition No. I with Red and Blue, 1931

René Magritte: La clef des champs, 1936

Salvador Dalí: Dream caused by the Flight of a Bee around a Pomegranate a Second before Wakening up, 1944

Max Ernst: Thirty-three Little Girls Set out for the White Butterfly Hunt, 1958

Richard Estes: Nedick's, 1970

The Art Museum Reina Sofia is famous for its astounding collection of the two Spanish painters Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Whereas the view of Guernica by Picasso was mostly blocked by viewers, the paintings by Dalí were (lucky for me) not as popular that day. It was beyond belief for me to be standing as close to the paintings and sclupture as the master himself once did.

Salvador Dalí: Face of The Great Masturbator, 1929

Salvador Dalí/Man Ray: Portrait of Joella, 1933-1934

 Salvador Dalí: Endless Enigma, 1938
